In Windows OS (Tm) - Searching an Epson printer using "AUTO" connection method does not produce any result, or even after finding the printer it is shown as UNCONNECTED.
In a Windows environment, for the search for Epson printers to be successful, it is necessary to install and connect the system printer driver (or connection).
The driver must be plugged into the actual port of the printer, and the printer must be turned on and in a ready state.
If these requirements are also met and the printer is still not visible in the RIP status window, it is necessary to check the presence and correct execution of the epson bidirectional communication service (
EpsonBidirectionalService) which is visible among the system SERVICES.
If the service is not present (or if you are not sure) in the system it is necessary to download and install it manually from the following path:
https://www.devstudio.it/UtilityASP/download/Win/installer/EpsonNetSDK_setup.exe

I have purchased a license to use 2 or more printers, I see them in the RIP list but the program prints to only one at a time.
You need to open SERVER PREFERENCES from the Edit menu.
In the first window, among the General Preferences there are two options:
- Max. number of concurrent jobs
- Max. number of concurrent sending
Put in both fields the number of printers we want to use at the same time.
If you put a number greater than the actual number of printers, it will have no effect because the program cannot calculate and send more than one job at a time to the same printer.

Different costs between the print forecast on "calculate costs now" and the report after printing. Printer models: Epson SureColor SC-F2100 / SureColor SC-F2000
The Report records the cost as reported by the printer AFTER printing and can also include any cleaning and also shows the cost of any copies sent.
Instead, the cost forecast only shows the theoretical cost of the single copy and does not consider cleaning, even if it always adds a small percentage of the cost.

When opening files to Print, a message appears The license does not manage PostScript files and does not open any PS, EPS or PDF files
If your license should support this type of file, it is possible that the program did not perform a correct update of the license data during the startup procedure.
I recommend going to the
HELP menu
CHECK FOR LICENSE UPDATES.
This way the program will update the parameters of the enabled modules and PostScript operation should be restored.

I would like to optimize the colors of my printer, I have a spectrophotometer with its profiling program, can this be done?
You can print your instrument's profiling target by exporting the TIFF file from your profiling program.
You load it onto the RIP work table, deactivating the print profiles, by clicking on the colored sail-shaped icon at the bottom centre, to the left of the symbol with the eye representing the previews.
After printing normally, proceed to read and create the profile from your external software, and export the ICC file thus generated.
From Rip Devstudio open the Driver Manager interface (the icon at the top with the colored gears and screwdriver).
Inside this window you will find your printing condition already selected, with the printer and printing mode already selected.
From the right side of the window, double click on the name of the print mode you are using (e.g. 720x2400), this will open the profile folder, copy the ICC file you have just created inside it and close the window. window.
Then single-click on the mode name to update the program status and read the profile you just inserted.
Now click on the "Finalize" button at the bottom and select the new one you have just created from the list of available profiles and activate it by clicking on the "Validate Profile" button and then assign a description to the new profile.
By confirming the windows you will find the new profile among those available in the interface.

Minimum requirements for a PC (Windows or Mac) for use with Devstudio RIP
The compatibility table is constantly updated and refers to the latest version of the RIP. If your configuration is lower than the required one, we can provide a suitable previous version.
CPU = Intel Core or AMD compatible with Haswell instructions (For Apple M1 Macs or later)
RAM = 8GB
Video Card = Minimum resolution 1280x800
Disk = 500GB, always keep
AT LEAST 50GB free, SSD recommended
Operating System
Windows 10 or 11 (or Windows Server 2019 or later) 64-bit only
Mac OS 11 or later (the current RIP version is generally compatible with the latest three macOS releases)
If you encounter compatibility issues, or to check processor compatibility, we recommend downloading and running the software at this link
https://www.devstudio.it/download/cpu-z_2.18-en.zip and sending a screenshot of the results to:

Crash during UPDATE of a previous version in MAC Environment.
When the installation procedure fails and an error message from the operating system indicates a crash, it is possible that some pre-existing folders could not be overwritten.
The issue is often related to the /DriverManager folder.
The suggestion is to navigate to the following folder:
Applications
Devstudio
and rename the folder called:
DriverManager to DriverManager-old
Then proceed with the installation again.

Distorted display of characters and misalignment of check boxes compared to the program graphics.
On very high resolution screens it is possible that if a Windows screen or character scaling setting is activated this could negatively influence the display of the Program, we recommend opening the Windows Screen Settings, by clicking with the right mouse button in an empty space on the desktop, and under "Scaling" (or character enlargement depending on the version of the operating system used) you must set the value "100%"

Automatic Tiling printing problem.
Some recent versions have a problem printing panels when directly sending the print of a panelization without using the "Load to table" function.
If you have version 8.0 (Build 10330) if you encounter an error on the printing of the second page when you send the printout of a paneling, we recommend proceeding in one of the following two possible paths:
- From the panel management menu, after defining the division parameters and activating TILING, click on the "load to table" command. When asked if you want to: load One tile per page choose "NO" then all the panels will be loaded one under the other (you will already see any cutting marks in preview) < br>
- Alternatively you can choose to print one panel at a time, selecting the individual panels individually in the print preview window (this second route is certainly slower and not advisable).

Internet Connection Error during registration
If an internet connection error occurs during the registration of DevStudio Rip, making it impossible to register the product, the issue might be a block by the firewall or proxy.
To access our registration page, you need to open HTTPS port no. 9026 and add an exception to the proxy or firewall to allow inbound and outbound traffic through port 9026. To verify, you can visit the following address and check if the registration screen appears: https://www.devstudio.it:9026/

The RIP opens as DEMO
Does the title bar at the top say DEMO VERSION?
Check that when you start the program, no error message appears, or a window asking you to register or enter the protection key.
In that case, follow the instructions described.
If nothing appears but you go directly to the main interface of the RIP with the wording "DEMO", it is possible that some feature of the PC has been altered.
First, check the system DATE and TIME settings; if they are different from the actual ones, you must reset them to the real date and time to avoid activating the tamper protection.
Always check the availability of Free Disk Space, if very low (less than 10GB Free) it can cause unexpected errors.

I created a new profile for my printer but in the main interface I don't see it appear in the list
If it is not visible even after changing the paper type selection, and after clicking on the "New Table" button, it most likely indicates that the profile has not been finalized and the "Advanced Mode" has not been activated.
Check that in the menu:
Edit
The item is active:
[v] Advanced Mode
This option will make all the profiles and linearizations created visible, even those that have not actually been chosen as valid and predefined.
From this point of view, this choice is not the preferable one, because it can lead the user to choose wrong settings.
To make the chosen profile appear also in standard mode, you must open the "Driver Manager" interface and follow the "Finalize Driver" procedure.

The printer is unreachable and displays the following message:
"UNCONNECTED WITH SERVER"
This behavior indicates that the printer management component is stuck in memory and is unable to communicate with the program to work with the printer.
To resolve this problem, simply restarting your PC is often sufficient.
Alternatively, if you are familiar with using the "TASK MANAGER" function, you can use this method:
Start Task Manager, then open the "Details" panel, scroll through the list, and locate the "DEVPORT.EXE" program.
VERY IMPORTANT
Before proceeding, please read the following: If you have more than one printer, this operation must be performed with great care, especially when one printer is printing, as it could cause printing to be interrupted.
When you are sure that no print jobs are in progress, click "DEVPORT.EXE" and choose FINISH.
It will automatically restart and resume functioning.
If there are more than one printer, the DEVPORTS will also be as many as the number of printers installed in the RIP.

In Film Printer versions for printing halftone films, changing the LPI value does not produce a change in halftone in the printed job.
Versions with a build number between 11700 and 12254 exhibit a bug that causes changing the LPI value to have no effect on printing. The LPI value remains the default for the selected print mode, even if the interface displays a custom value.
While waiting for a definitive solution, the following version must be installed:
Standard Version
www.devsupport.it/download/Win/installer/filterIo/DevstudioRIP/devstudiorip64_11686_DM.exe
Server Version
www.devsupport.it/download/Win/installer/filterIo/DevstudioRIP-Server/devstudiorip_server64_11686_DM.exe

My printer appears to have inverted colors, how can I fix the color order in my printer driver?
To change the ink order from the Devstudio RIP, open the Driver Manager module, click the Ink Order button, and change the sequence.
The interface displays the original order on the left and allows you to select the correct color in the right column.
